We had a fairly nice stay, the hotel was brilliant, tidy, with amazing location to all the best neighbourhoods. Thoroughly enjoyed our rooms with window to the front. The service was all in all friendly. Late check-out was useful.

Nice design, good location, good food.
A bit overpriced, the guy at reception didnt seem to have very good local knowledge, could offer any help with a city tour.

I love the quirkiness of design/boutique hotels and urbn didn't dissappoint. My room had a normal separate hotel shower and toilet, but had a great sunken lounge with desk at the end of the bed and bathtub next to bed. Conventional hotel design would say that wouldn't work, but I thought it was brilliant. I also dined in the restaturant and the food was really good and service was great. I also like the way the hotel has used recycled material from the demolished old cantonements. Shanghai would be a nicer city if so much of it was not demolisahed but that's another story!!
There was only one outlet open on my one night stay and perhaps this could have been reflected in the room rate. The point of staying in small boutique hotels and paying a higher than market rate, is their often better and more popular social areas. Having them closed because 'it is only open in the summer' does not go down well.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this place and I must say, it was a truly luxurious experience. The location is superb, situated on a busy old street but close enough to walk to big malls in the busy centre. The staff here provided excellent service, with a 24-hour reception and attentive staff who were always available to assist. The room amenities were top-notch, from the cozy sitting area to the in-room safe and mini-bar. The dining options were also impressive, with a restaurant and bar/lounge area offering delicious meals and drinks. The spa & wellness centre was a great addition, allowing me to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring.
All in all, I highly recommend staying at this venue. The location, service, and amenities provided are all top-notch.
